Joys of life, part 3 - Morning walks (in summer)

Sometimes I wake up at four in the morning and can’t fall back asleep, even though I still feel tired. In that case, I have two options:

  1. Struggle to fall back asleep, then get up tired and annoyed.

  2. Throw on a T-shirt and shorts and go for a walk.

When the second option wins out… I leave the house and after three deep breaths, the fatigue and irritation are gone. The air smells intensely. Zero traffic. The light has a beautifully golden hue. A great way to start the day.

Of course, this only works from around May to early September (at least in the Czech Republic). Getting up, bundling up in six layers of clothing, and walking on an icy path in darkness and icy wind… I am yet to find pleasure in that.
